I have been teaching ESL to adult since 2006, as have worked as a school manager, teacher trainer and material developer. Since 2017, I have been working on ESLPPT in my free time, as I would like to develop a side-source of income in order to help me be on my way to becoming my own boss.
I focus on students using the language to learn the language, through TBL and PBL, with added focus on critical thinking skills and collaboration. Most students, especially in Asia, tend to focus on grammar and vocabulary-building during their school years, but have little opportunity to use the language. I develop material that allows them to use the language to complete tasks, or have in-depth discussions about specific topics that may not be normal for them to engage in. I feel this deviation away from the standard ESL topics is something my students tend to enjoy, as they can branch out more in their conversations.

I'm not a terribly fascinating guy, and tend to enjoy more quiet pursuits in my free time, like reading, getting massages and going to cafes and museums. I'm from a small town in Georgia, and made the move to China when I was 22. Since doing so, I've learned that I enjoy the city life, and the conveniences it offers. These days, I am looking for my next destination, and am hoping to settle down and establish a long-lasting social circle.
